The Two
Pence 1847 Post Office Mauritius, one of the most important stamps in the
Royal Philatelic Collection.
The island
of Mauritius became the first British colony to issue postage stamps, on 21
September 1847.
Only twelve
examples of the two pence value are known to have survived
